Pastor Stan Hagen, native of Lincoln, Nebraska, lived until the age of seven within a block of the AdventistCollege he would later graduate from - UnionCollege.His parents were Elmer and Leona Hagen and sister is Ruth Ann Wade.
The family moved to Topeka, Kansas, where he attended the local Adventist church school.His high school years were spent at EnterpriseAcademy, an Adventist boarding school located in Enterprise, KS, ninety miles west of the capital city.
In 1965 he earned his bachelors degree from UnionCollege with a religion major and history minor.Two years later he graduated from AndrewsUniversity in Berrien Springs, Michigan with a Bachelor of Divinity degree.
While attending UnionCollege, he met DeLora Vivian Haas, daughter of Gideon and Avonelle Haas.He married DeLora in 1966.Fathers of both bride and groom were ordained ministers of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Pastor Hagen entered ministry in 1967 and served as pastor in the states of Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, and Illinois.He also spent 12 years in Brazil as a missionary in two centrally located missions (Central Brazil Mission and Matogrosso Mission).During furlough time in 1978 he enrolled at LomaLindaUniversity and graduated with a Masters Degree in Public Health (Mph).
His wife, DeLora, an accomplished musician, earned her undergraduate degree from UnionCollege and Masters Degree from AndrewsUniversity.She returned to UnionCollege to earn her 2nd bachelors degree in Pastoral Care in 1995.The following year she completed her CPE training and entered chaplaincy work at AdventistHinsdaleHospital and later AdventistGlenOaksHospital in Illinois.In 2007 she completed her Masters Degree in ChristianMinistry at Northern Baptist Seminary.
Pastor Stan and DeLora are blessed with three children: Ronald Scott of Lincoln, Nebraska; Roger Stanley of Kyle, Texas; and Loralee Mendez of Springfield, Illinois.All three children graduated from UnionCollege; the younger two also graduated from AndrewsUniversity with advanced degrees.Stan and DeLora are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.
Stan enjoys running, bicycling, gardening, amateur radio, and photography in addition to his passion for pastoral ministry.Hehas competed in 11 races in the past nine years and received 10 medals in all.
Pastor is an avid advocate of healthful living, but is most concerned with spiritual health and victorious living for each member of his Burbank and La Grange-Brookfield churches.He believes whole-heartedly in the following counsel of the apostle Paul: "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith." (Heb. 12:1, 2).
Pastor Stan has served the La Grange-Brookfield church since May of 2004.
